On 5th November, Miss Rowe and Mrs Johnson's Year 7 art groups worked with Mandy Quy - Verlander from the University for the Creative Arts, Canterbury.
Students were shown how to make a booklet from an A3 piece of paper by folding and making a small cut with scissors. Next, in groups they discussed their hobbies and interests then used a variety of materials to create mixed-media designs on the pages. Students used a combination of magazine collage, patterned tape, post it notes, stickers and ink stamps to make their designs.
Mandy said she was really impressed with the students’ behaviour, enthusiasm and creativity.
The remaining two groups who have the opportunity to take part in the workshop at a later date.
The art department will continue to develop links with UCA, giving them opportunities to meet art practitioners from outside of the school environment and inspire students to apply to college or university after they leave school.
