The Royal Harbour

Academy

GCSE Results 2023

Following the obvious disruption over the past few years, we are really proud of how successful the students at the Royal Harbour Academy have been in their exams this year. Our English Department had 48% of their students receive a Level 4 grade or better, while 39% of students secured a Level 4 grade or above in maths.


Many students have had outstanding success, but there were a number of exceptional performances. Including:


Yusrah Burghli achieved grade 9s in English language, ethics & philosophy and history, grade 8s in English literature and Arabic, grade 7-6 in combined science, grade 5 in maths and distinction*s in hospitality & catering and travel & tourism. Yusrah is delighted with her fantastic results and said: “I am really grateful that I have been able to go to school as it is an immense opportunity, which not everyone in the world gets. I know it has opened a million doors for my future. I am very grateful for the effort my teachers put into helping me achieve my goals. I owe credit to Royal Harbour Academy for all my successes today.”


Aurelia Golos achieved grade 9 in Polish, grade 8s in maths and combined science, grade 7s in English language, English literature, art & design, ethics & philosophy and history and a distinction in sport studies.


Jessica Dennis achieved grade 7s in English literature, English language and geography, grade 6s in maths and ethics & philosophy, grade 6-5 in combined science, distinction in health & social care and merit in travel & tourism.


Charlie Nichols achieved grade 8 in history, grade 7s in English literature and maths, grade 6-6 in combined science, grade 5 in English language, distinctions in health & social care and sports studies and merit in travel & tourism.


Darcy Popple achieved grade 7s in English language, English literature and Spanish, grade 7-6 in combined science, grade 6 in maths, grade 5 in ethics & philosophy, A* in child development and distinction in drama.


Jenny Luxmoore, Assistant Headteacher and Raising Standards Leader, said: “Students showed commitment, resilience and determination throughout unprecedented disruption and should rightfully be celebrating these grades. They have achieved some fantastic results and thoroughly deserve this success. I am incredibly proud of our Year 11 students; it has been a real pleasure to work with such a brilliant cohort.”


Simon Pullen, Headteacher, said: “Our students have shown that despite the difficulties of the last few years they are capable of the highest levels of achievement. Hard work, resilience and the skilled support of our teachers has meant our students have done incredibly well this year.”
