To Infinity and Beyond…. Not quite the beyond but on the 2nd of February 2025, students from Years 9, 10, and 11 set off on an extraordinary school trip to Disneyland Paris. The journey was filled with unforgettable experiences, educational opportunities, and moments of pure joy, making it a truly remarkable adventure.
The trip provided students with a unique chance to learn beyond the classroom while exploring some of France’s most iconic landmarks.
A Day of Culture and History in Paris
The adventure began with a visit to the world-famous Eiffel Tower. As students took in the breath taking panoramic views of Paris from the top, the sheer scale of the city left them in awe. One enthusiastic student shared, "Wow, I can see the whole of Paris from here! It’s so much bigger than I thought."
The group then continued to the Arc de Triomphe, where they explored its historical significance and admired its grandeur. “I’ve seen pictures of the Arc de Triomphe, but being here in person is just incredible. It feels so much more real when you’re standing right in front of it,” said a Year 10 student.
A leisurely stroll down the bustling Champs-Élysées rounded off the first day. Students immersed themselves in the lively atmosphere, taking in the sights, sounds, and flavours of this famous avenue.
A Day of Enchantment at Disneyland Paris
Day two took students to the magical world of Disneyland Paris, where they explored thrilling rides, met beloved Disney characters, and watched spectacular performances. Excitement filled the air as students made lifelong memories together.
“Disneyland is just as magical as I imagined! I’m never going to forget this,” exclaimed student Tallulah after meeting Pluto.
The day was packed with thrilling experiences, from racing through Space Mountain to enjoying the enchanting Disney parade. “The parade was amazing, and the fireworks at the end of the day were breath taking! I felt like a kid again,” shared student Maddi.
A highlight of the visit was a drama workshop where students interacted with Disney characters, learning poses, voices, and acting techniques. They also attended a Pixar Musical, an immersive theatrical experience featuring dazzling effects such as floating bubbles during Finding Nemo and shimmering glitter throughout the performance. Some students also enjoyed Stitch: The Musical, describing it as a truly one-of-a-kind show. The experience allowed students to refine their acting abilities by studying movement, expression, and voice techniques from professional Disney performers. This workshop aligned with their curriculum by providing hands-on learning in an environment that nurtures creativity and confidence.
One of the most unforgettable moments was watching the students come together, singing and dancing during the fireworks and light show. Another highlight was the enthusiastic students meeting Pluto, joyfully chanting, “We love you, Pluto!” while snapping photos and celebrating together.
A Trip to Remember
The trip was a resounding success, with students demonstrating exemplary behaviour and a contagious enthusiasm. The perfect blend of historical exploration and magical Disney fun allowed students to learn, grow, and form lasting friendships.
“This has been the best school trip ever! From the Eiffel Tower to Disneyland, I can’t pick a favourite moment because everything was amazing,” said student Sophie.
Drama teacher Molly Stillman commented on the trip: “The students who attended the Paris Drama Paris trip presented our school so well, the behaviour was outstanding and it was such a delight to share this experience with them. We learnt so much about the drama industry from meeting characters, watching the theatrical light show and fireworks to watching live theatre shows - developing acting skills with Darth Vader was so much fun!”
We believe trips such as this are so important as visiting new places exposes students to different cultures, broadening their perspectives and appreciation for diversity. We also believe travelling together encourages teamwork, communication, and stronger friendships, helping students develop social skills, giving them hands-on experiences which spark curiosity and creativity, making learning more exciting and memorable. We believe navigating new environments and overcoming challenges boosts students' confidence and problem-solving abilities.
The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated teachers and staff who meticulously organized this adventure and ensured everything ran smoothly. A special thank you to the students for their enthusiasm and positive spirit throughout the trip.
